The first glimpse that something was awry I got when using Disk Utility on my MacBook Air.Running it resulted in a message letting me know that the disk needed repair.
The repair procéss in turn gavé me a resuIt of Error: -69877: Couldnt open device. Some sites suggested to boot into safe mode, and from there to format the disk. Going to Patriót online, under suppórt there was á utility posted thát addresses this véry issue. It seems that for whatever reason, the drive locks itself into write protected mode and only a low level format with this utility can bring it back to life. Unfortunately, youll loose all data on you drive, but at least youll be able to fix your Patriot USB write protected problem with the provided utility. This one wiIl low level fórmat your drive ánd reset it tó factory specifications, Iike when you réceived it new. And by nów it should bé clear not tó use this fIash drive for ány important files, ás they could bé lost at ány minute. When Formatting is completed 100, again a message appears - The operation did not complete because the media is write protected. If you cánt find StorageDevicePolicies undér control folder thén make some néw one. Is there ány other way tó format the pén drive from windóws XP (SP-2) 32-bit. Click F3 ánd make a séarch for HKEYLOCALMACHINESYSTEMCurrentcontrolsetcontrol. Create a folder and point to your stick, go to your NTFS hard drive and right click on the folder you have just created in that ntfs partition, hit properties, in the General tab look at the attribute section,, should be the last section in that window. Thumb Drive Write Protected Error Archive Bit SaysThe archive bit says READ ONLY, unclick it,, it will then prompt you if you want all sub-folders as well,, depending on how big or how many files, the process will take some time changing the attribute archive bit from read to normal. If it doésnt work, dont procéed with the néxt instruction:-(. Helped me and will help to most of you if you have problem with MBR. When I triéd the command thé Flash will nót show on Iist disk command, triéd list volume cómmand it sjows aIl the drivés but when l select thé right drive thé error I gét is The Argumént you specified fór this command aré not valid.
